Hi everyone! I have just pulled these cars out of a shed where they have been sitting for 30+ years. I bought the Mk 9 and plan on turning it into a street rod (sacrelidge, I know, but it's too far gone to be worth restoring.....besides, it'll be so cool!) As a result I'll have numerous parts such as the engine block, bumpers, rear end, etc. If anyone is interested, they can have them for cheap.
The xk150 I'm considering buying but I'm not sure if it's worth restoring, seeing as how it's a hardtop. It's all there, albeit mostly in boxes. The body is pretty rough. I'm still pulling parts out of the the barn. The owner lives in Florida and the farm (in Delaware) has been sold so everything has to be moved. I don't have the room either but I can't see this stuff going in the garbage. So far I've found an aluminum hood , a right fender and a deck lid for a 150. a mk9 deck lid,an extra transmision, 2 doors (150 I guess) and a bumper. God alone knows what else I'll find in there.I'd appreciate any advice, including the name of a
reputable restorer in the tri state area (Pa, De, Mar) or
NJ. My cell is 302 750 3467 Thanks in advance Malcolm Sandy

Are you interested in selling the XK150FHC the way you bought it unrestored? If you do How much will you take? And if you do can you send me some pictures? We have a restoration shop. And about the response you got from Mr.Otto M. he is being very truthful about, it will be very hard to get your money out once you did the restoration. We are looking into this because we will like to do it for ourselves. Actually i am looking for an XK120FHC for restoration, but since we havent being able to find one, a 150 is ok too.

Hi Malcolm,

Just to give you a clue what you're in for, a body off resto. will run you between $80,000. & $100,000. You will never recover the cost if you sell it, not for a FHC. I have a -58 150fhc & just for the body work, (some rust patches & a few replacement panels), I was quoted $27,000. no paint or trim or interior, just bare body. I would have to bring the bare body there, 2 states away, & back. Then there's the engine, driveline, suspension, brakes, chrome, interior, paint, & re-assembly, 2000 hrs. labor @ $40.00/hr. you do the math. Then again, if you have nothing to do for the next 5-10yrs. well, there's your hobby.

Regards, Otto M.
