I have dismantled the non working turn signal switch on my Series 1 E-Type. The problem seems to be that the two little springs under the two U shaped sliding brass contacts need to be replaced; one is missing and one is "mangled".
Is there a source for these springs rather than spend
$300+ for a new switch?

Gee, its been awhile since I replace my turn signal innards, but I suspect you can take the mangled one and find a close replacement at a good hardware store. I'll also bet you can find a replacement spring off of nearly any British vehicle of that year. Look for an old salvage unit on EBay.
