I recently purchased a 96 XJS conv, my first Jaguar and I'm quite pleased with this car. I do a lot of my own mechanic work and would like to maintain this car to the best of my abilities, mostly tuneups, brakes and general DIY work. Does anyone know of a source for a repair manual and maintenance schedule for this beauty. The car did not come with an owners manual and I would be interested in picking one up as well.

Also, I seem to be fighting the hold down bracket for the spare tire. The hold down lug nut doesn't seem to center properly on the wheel and makes it difficult to tighten down the spare. Am I missing something?

I tried to send a photo of my sonswheel, there is also a alluminium spacer that goes on the shaft before the retainer knobbie, it measures 1.99 inches long and is 1.00 inches in diam.Shaft comes through upper wheel nut hole, the spacer of course has a hole right through its length that measures 0.43 inches Art

Thanks for the response. With respect to the spare tire, I do place the bolt in the wheel stud hole and then try to screw on the lug and it just doesn't want to screw on correctly; there's not enough clearance to even finger tight the lug. Perhaps it's as simple as doing a better job alinging or maybe the stud was bent at some point.

I've seen several manuals and CD's on ebay and other websites. There doesn't seem to be a single manual that would cover it. I'm wondering if Haynes has a basic DIY book for the straight forward things.
