I have a '96 XJS 6 cylinder that wants to accelerate on its own. It starts and idles at 750 rpm but as soon as you accelerate it jumps to 1300 rpm. If you are running down the road at 50 MPH and take your foot off the gas, it still wants to run at 50 mph. When you brake to a stop it idles at 750 rpm. ANY IDEAS AS TO THE PROBLEM?

There was a recall on the earlier cruise units,same problem as the AUDI units, uncontrollable acceleration, Jag recalled all of them before many people hearsd about it, unlike Audi, blaming the drivers, nice try Audi PR people looking for a job. Should check whenever you buy another vehicle with the dealer if any recalls are outstanding on the vehicle, sometimes there are, and could save a lot of problems later on ..........
