My 1996 XJ6, 60K original miles, has the original timing chain. I was planning to replace it at about 110K miles. Question: since the Jag is 10 years old should it be replaced sooner and how much sooner?

An unrelated question is about lubricants. A Jag repair shop in Dallas suggested using a high end synthetic lubricant (like Royal Puirple) in the differential. However had heard that the high end synthetics can eat away the gaskets and may not be a good idea for the newer Jags. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Carol, your model has the 6 cyl engine which does not suffer from the tensioner problem of the early 8"s. There is no need to change the chain unless it has a specific problem! Jaguar affectionado and etc.
