I just got a 76 xjs for restoration, and there are a couple of parts missing that I can't find in my hayes manual. one is that part that looks like some sort of computer that sits on top of the radiator. the other is that there are wires that lead to the drivers side fender well(above the headlights)that look like they were connected to something, but that part is missing.
Thanks for any help

My gusee on the second photo is that those are grounding wires. Now, what they ground is a mystery to me, but maybe not a bad idea to bolt them to something. Also, it looks like the part that is "missing" is the entire upper shroud for the radiator that, well, is supposed to keep the radiator in place. I know on my 89 there are various ground wires that go to it. May want to look into replacing that. I had a radiator "escape" from another car once because I didn't have the upper cover on right. It was kinda cool. The radiator committed suicide by jumping out of it's mount and disembowling itself on the spinning fan that augered a surprisingly clean, round hole right through the core. Nothing a new radiator and fan didn't fix.

here are the photos. I figured out one problem, the car has the ignition amp relocated to behind the grille. But haven't been able to figure out where these wires go to. Also does the 76 xjs have a power amplifier. I was reading kirby manual and I thought he said that came in at 1980.
Thanks for the help

Sometimes if possible a photo of objects of which you are enquiring about would be a good help. As the saying goes "a look is worth a thousand words". believe it I do,

The piece on top of the radiator would be, I think, the amplifier for the "Opus" ignition system. If the igntion system fails it is common to replace it entirely with an aftermarket type such as Crane or Pertronix. The original amps are then removed or simply left in place but abandoned.

Not sure about your wiring near the fender. It not so unusual to find unused wiring on these cars.....different cars had different equipment fitted so sometimes the wiring is there but the actual components are not
