Can anyone tell me the correct clearance gap. The road hits the exhaust pipe on slightly uneven road surface. It could be that the springs and shocks are weak, and the car has dropped a few inches. Any suggestions please, Thanks.

Yes, the factory setting was 6+1/2 inches to the bottom of the front suspension frame at its lowest point. When they adjust the front make sure they jack up the back to keep it level. Good Luck Jaguar affectionado and etc.

Hi Bill,
Have contacted the Barcelona Jag Club, and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. Have you managed to find the height for me! would appreciate it. As for a complete set of springs and shockers, I'll try to find them locally, if not, I'll contact the UK. I'm sure there will be easier to find.

You will need to price them yourself, looking at your cars you must have connections. Thre is a very good jag shop in Barcelona I visited a year or two ago but don't have their address at hand. You ill need to find a shop to help you do the work i presume, Jaguar affectionado and etc.

Hi Bibi,

The Series 3 is unique among E-Types in that it has both a comprehensive service manual and parts manual. If you don't have them you should get them. Ride height measurement is covered in sections 60.10.18 and 64.25.12, and there are 11 steps including how much weight to add, where to add it, and where to take the measurements.

Thanks for the help. In the event I need to replace the springs and shocks, is it easier and cheaper to get them from the UK or US? My car is US specification, and I live in Spain. Thanks+

It is very likely that your suspension has sunk,-as have most E's out there. Luckily your front is relatively easy to adjust on the torsion bars, the rear is a little more awkward as the springs have probably collapsed and have to be replaced, but raising one end also raises the other a little, so do the front first. I don.t have the height here but someone else will probably post them if not i'll get them for you when i go to work tomorrow. Jaguar affectionado and etc.
