My XJ-S runs like a champ. However, she will not go past 100mph and the rpm gauge isn't even close to red lining. I was told by a friend that the V12 Jags were fitted with a restrictor before being exported to the USA because of Emissions Standards. Is this true? If so, is there any way of removing/resetting this restriction?

A V12 XJS can be quite a challenge to keep on the road....lots of (usually) small repairs required, not only Jaguar-specific quirks but also typical age-and-mileage services and replacements.
I have umpteen different XJS manuals and CDs, but thanks for the offer :-)

That is great news. Thanks for the information. I purchased this kitty about 8 months ago and it's been quite a learning experience ever since. So far, I had to replace the alternator, steering pump hose (aargh), and a radiator hose and that was truly educational.
Hey, I bought this awesome CD on Ebay called (Jaguar XJ-S to 1991 - Workshop Parts & Service Manual)...apparently, someone digitally copied the entire XJ-S manual into PDF format. If you are interested, I would gladly send you a free copy of it. It has been a blessing because you can print out just the pages you need and if they get messed up while working on your Jag...you can always print them again. Thanks again.

Nice Jag. You should be able to go to 6500 rpm and around 140+ miles per hour if the old girl is well tuned
Check for clogged exhuast and/or fuel filter
There were no "restrictors" installed....
