Recently I bought in Holland a XK 120 OTS. When doing restoration works on the bottom, I noticed the chassis number bashed on right front side of the chassis was not at the place named in the XK-literature (left front side on top of the chassis) and brakes and rear axle didn't match the given year 1951. When removing the paint at "right place" for the chassis number I found the original number indicating 1954 as year of manufacture and matching with the technical details.
As the papers I got when purchasing the car contain the wrong chassis number the German authorities refuse to register the car without documents of the original car.
Thats why I would like to ask the North American Jag community if anyone knows something about this car (see also picture):
- XK 120 OTS
- imported in 1994 to Holland coming from the USA
- restoration presumably in the US before export
- with the car was a duplicate key from Selma, Alabama
- wrong chassis number 671734
- correct chassis number S675850
I have Heritage Certificates on both numbers. The original car was delivered by Hornburg, LA (I asked there with no answer). Both numbers are not indicated on www.xkdata.com
If anyone knows something about the car please contact me by mail: schreiberatpublimed.de
