I have a customer with a 1956 xk140 FHC competition. We are trying to find the value of the car to determine the level of restoration. First this is a LEFT hand drive car, type C engine, dual webers, dual exhaust, spoked rims, 4 speed non overdrive. This is a one owner car thats known to be a custom build by Jaguar, actually we know the entire story of the car and how it came to be. Just dont know the value off hand, we have heard some numbers but looking for more solid info in the value of the car.

We cannot help you from the information you have supplied so far.

Let's take an example: a nicely restored XK120 roadster might be worth $60k. However, the nicely restored XK120 roadster that has documentation with it to prove that it was the one purchased new by Phil Hill and driven by him to a win at Pebble Beach in 1950 could be worth 3, 4 or 5 times that much.

It all depends on the history of the car and the documentation that backs it up.

So... what's the story?
