I don't have a "Sound System Handbook" just the "Vehicle Care" and "Drivers Handbook". I have a new favorite radio station and want to make it a preset. Can someone tell me the button combination to do this? I've tried and just can't figure it out. Also, anyone know how I can get the "Sound System Handbook" easily. It's a 1996 XJS. Thanks.

Tune the desired station, then press one of the numbered buttons until it beeps. This will erase the memory and add the new one you want.

I'm not familiar with the XJ-S stereo, much less the 1996, but maybe you just tune the stereo to the station you want, then you press any station-preset button (1,2,3,4,5,6, etc.) and keep it pressed until you hear a beep or beeps?? Also, modern stereos have 2 or 3 "groups" of presets, i.e., FM1, FM2, FM3, so make sure you're on FM1 when you preset the station you want. After you set all the stations you can on FM1, then you start presetting on FM2, etc.

To move from one preset group to another, you usually press the FM band button until you see the display change to FM2 or FM3. I think those are standardized setting procedures in the car stereo industry.

If that does not work, then you'll need to first press *another button* while listening to the particular station, then you press the station preset button where you want the station to be, until a beep is heard. Finding the *another button* is a matter of trying all the buttons with a station preset button, one button at a time, until you hit the right combination! Let us know what you found out.

Finding the Stereo Manual that came with your car: you'll need to do a lot of researching; I would start by writing to Car Literature Dealers, you can find them at http://www.hemmings.com or try www.google.com and do a search like: +car stereo manual +1996 XJS, or any combination you like. Eventually you'll find it. Good Luck!
