I had similar problems with my 86 XJ6. Had it transported to Neil Loesch, owner of Jaguar of Houston. Neil quickly determined I had the wrong amplifier module installed...wasn't putting out enough voltage...previous owner installed it. Also, the pickup module had a weak magnet and the diode pack was leaking. Neil suspected the leaking diode pack may have been causing the amp and pickup to overheat, thus causing the unexpected shut-down of the engine...nothing worse than having the engine die in the middle of a turn!

Neil installed a new pickup module, a GM amplifier module, and a used diode pack...except for a failed coil a few weeks later (old age), my Sovereign is once again a joy to drive!

For anyone within reach of Houston, I highly reccommend Neil for your Jag ills...one of his past lives was spent as a Jaguar factory tech rep...he knows his stuff and is very pleasant to deal with.

I hope this info helps...

Lots of possibilities. Have the throttle body cleaned...an easy first step that often cures mysterious running problems on these cars.

Have the IAC (Idle Air Control) checked at the same time.
