Can anyone help me find a suitable sealed battery for a '62 E-Type? I tried Delco and Interstate, and neither of them have a size that seems to fit right. Thought of Delco as it's a black battery with stick-on labeling that is easily removed. Maximum dimensions are 9 3/4 long x 6 1/2 wide x 7 1/2 high. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks to Curtis and the help of a very patient Interstate dealer, I found an Interstate MT-86. (He was out of the 35's). The MT-86 fits perfectly using the original hold-down. It's an all black battery and the labels are easily peeled off, leaving a very nice black battery with no markings, and it was only $79.00. Only difference between the 35 and the 86 is the CCA - the 35 is 550 and the 86 is 525. The 86 (or the 35) is not quite as long as the original Lucas battery, but the rubber ends on the hold down nicely cover the gaps.

The Centennial 35 series sealed battery is 9" by 6 1/2" but 8" high (plus posts) and fits perfectly in my 67 FHC. Im using the original hold down system including a plastic pan to catch the hopefully nonexistent drips. All 35 series batteries should be about the same. Good luck -Curt 1967 E-type S1 FHC
