I hope this dosen't seem like a taboo question but;
What is the towing capacity of a 1988 XJ-6, and dose anyone make a class II/III hitch for one.

1988 XJ-6 Towing
The towing capacity for your 1988 XJ6 is 2000 pounds. Don't exceed 200 pounds of tounge weight.

1988 XJ-6 Towing
ROFL. I thought I was the only one secure enough in my status to think I could but a bumper hitch on a Jag-u-ar!
MY towing question is...in a moment of madness I agreed to have my '95 XJ6 towed rather than putting her on a truck, and now I think she thinks she's been Jaguar-napped. She refuses to start. She was fine before she was moved, there isn't a Jag mechanic in over a hundred miles, and the best man I could find can't see anything wrong with her...any ideas? It isn't a fuse, she seems not to be getting fuel?
Also...does anyone have a better idea than replacing the ignition when the keys to my '87 XJ6 are lost beyond retrieval? (Don't even ask!) A master locksmith spent three hours declaring he had never seen a car he couldn't cut a key for. He has now.
I'd sure appreciate some advice here.

I've never seen anyone who offers a Class II or Class III trailer hitch for an XJ6. There are Class I hitches available but they only bolt on to the bumper.
The design of the car does not lend itself to a Class II or Class III hitch.
Linda,
If yo have the key code, I imagine a Jaguar dealer could cut the key for you and then send it to you. As far a sstarting, I'm not sure if the 88's had an inertia switch but you might check your book and see. That might have flipped if the car was josteled heavily. I'd call a Jaguar Dealer even if you don't live near one and ask if no one on the board can respond.
