I am looking for someone capable of restoring a 1963 Mark 2 to excellent driving condition. I live in western Montana and would like it done locally (anywhere from Montana to Seattle!).

Hello Abbott
I just finished a 1962 Mark II 3.8. The restoration took over 1000 men hours, bare metal repaint, all interior made in UK with original material including headliner, champagne leather with green piping matching the metallic
BRG of the exterior. Orginal wood restored to better then new condition including the picnic tables in matching veneer. All electrical, mechanical, suspension, steering, brakes is redone, A/C by Mister Jaguar without dash modification. All the doors, bonnet and boot gaps are better then new. Check the picture attached.I spent over 60K excluding the cost of the California no rust black plates car.
Save yourself lots of trouble, drive my cat today for a modest $ 50 K
4000 miles since motor restoration amd 325 since transmission and cosmetic restoration. If you want more pictures including the work in process i have them.
Regards
Michel

only the mechanical aspects? or the body, the chrome, and upholstery too?
I know one expert in Tennessee and another in Florida, quite a ways from Montana but if you have to trailer it and if you have the money for a complete mechanical resto, distance is not an issue.
In my opinion, what you need is someone who will dedicate his/her skills to your car, i.e., Your employee, not to a number of cars at the same time. Although the latter is the normal practice, (committing to more jobs that the shop can handle), I would not leave my classic Jaguar in any shop with dismantled cars in different stages of "restoration". I would hire 1 man for 1 car. Surely there must be shops that are the exceptions to the rule, but try finding it.

And I just learned of a 1-owner, completely original, showroom condition, original everything, unrestored, unrusted, unrotted, un-re-painted, MK-II for $40 grand. Yes, the car can be driven home.
