I'm looking for the complete wiring diagrams for a 1986 XJ6, does anyone have them on their computer? Or will I be forced to buy them in a manual?

I'm not working on anything specific I just sold my 88 XJ6/40 ( a very comfortable smooth running car if it wasn't for the constant electrical problems, I might have loved the car) and am now taking on the task of taking my 86 XJ6 which has been sitting in the garage for 3 years, and fixing it up to drive again.
I have literature on mechanical sections of car, but am missing electrical diagrams, I was just curious if someone had them readily available on the forum. I will probably just buy them from one of the sources you guys referenced. Thanks for the replies.

They fold out and aren't really condusive to scanning. You can buy the factory service manual on CD-rom from Coventry West or XKs Unlimited or other usual suppliers. It's fairly inexpensive and will have the electrical schematics on it.

You could also check Ebay for a factory manual. The come up there from time to time.

Another great resource for the series 3 XJ is the S-57 electrical guide. You can get one of those from jaguar Services, 16820 Lathrop, Harvey, IL 60426 ph: 800-842-0912.

I have the one that came with my 1984, which is really a 1983 Build Year. so what you are looking for is a 1985 Build Year diagram. (Jaguar used to build cars a year before they were shipped to dealers for the Model Year).

Also, it is impossible to scan it into the computer, because it is a nearly poster-size diagram. I took mine to the local Staples to get it enlarged and even they could not get it scanned in one piece, (and they have huge scanners there). they did it in two passes and then I taped the two halves as best as was possible. Still not a perfect job.

What exact area are you trying to repair or investigate?
