To restore/refurbish or just bite the bullet and reupholster....1995 XJS 6.0L V12 leather...
Take a look at these pics of my front seats - NO rips or tears just dried out , cracked etc.
I'm trying to decide between spending $200 on restoration chemicals and dyes and 3 days+
of hard work vs having an upholstery shop replace the leather. ($2000)+
Gliptone, Leatherique, Liguid leather,Colour Plus - they all claim to be able to turn leather in this condition back to like new condition. I'm skeptical but I'd rather spend a couple of hundred than a few thousand.
Any thoughts or experience using similar products ?

James

To Restore or Reupholster ?
Your seats look to me as if the would respond to refurbishing nicely.
I used Leatherique on mine and had great results.
It looks to me like the top was left down too much. The leather needs to be protected from too much sun and too much rain. Either will dry them out like yours are.
That said, remember that Top Down is the "Natural State" of our kitties and we shouldn't repress them too much.

Hey if you have the time do it yourself, I have seen great results from users of Leatherique, the owner is a JCNA member also , think his name is George, , tell him and get a discount, tell him Art Dickenson told you,

Hi James,
Here is the link to the Leathertique web site - Jaguar Project (direct link below). Not sure how you will handle the piping that needs treatment; perhaps you can mask the areas next to the piping and then leather dye them separately. Leathertique should be able to give you a good suggestion.
