Where are they?
At this point, there should be a dozen or more for the clubs to consider prior to their delegates traveling to the AGM.
The Regional Directors should be in direct contact with their region's clubs to stimulate creative thinking that could result in proposals to improve the jcna. For the delegates to make sensible decisions, the proposals should be posted here in time for them to discuss with their members prior to attending.

George,
Am fine and will be contacting you later this Spring. Always look forward to your informative and incisive comments. Will look forward to see what occurs toward this issue at the AGM. (And hopefully I will see you there.)

Gerald knowing you I am sure you would but then there are others--I simply posted a response to state that the proposal (although I have not seen published) was submitted to ease one presond logistics and was not offered for other purposes! We have had some discussion and alternatives have been discussed. I am not sure how it will go but your approach might find traction! How are you?

Pascal - It ain't much fun when it's a '56 XK-140 OTS (and you're 70y/o) -and you take your wife with you (and have to convince her that she cain't take much more luggage than an over-night case!)
George - I would fully disagree with any proposal that exhibitors in the Driven Class should be allowed to trailer to all shows -or ANY show other than the Challange. If you are entering in the Driven Class - DRIVE the car !! If it is too far to safely drive (for me -greater than 700 miles one way) and I REALLY want to have my car there, I will trailer, and enter in "Exhibition Only". I pride myself on being truely honest about driving the full way to & from any show I enter -even if I have to allow an extra day both ways for possible road problems, and often have a friend at home on "stand-by" with my trailer & van to come get me if needed -as even the best prepared 50y/o car is subject to "break-down".

Gerald/Cliff the JCRC does have that proposal--but the proposal is to allow all driven cars to be trailored to all shows--there is a conflict of langage from the start. Some distance compromises have been discussed but as in all of these type of situations the abuse that will come and the angst of others is the main consideration!

Jerry,
Wrt your no. 1, you may be in luck. That suggestion was made in time by a fellow from CO who trailered several cars to the JCC last summer. He entered cars in Champ and Driven classes and couldn't very well tow a Champ car behind his Driven car. Anyway, the Concours Committee is aware of the issue and is considering it. (I hope the Concours forum folks and the rules committee in particular see your post on this forum.)
Pascal is likely to be able to address your item no. 2.
With some luck this may be resolved by your next meeting.

AGM proposals
Pascal,
It is probably too late to submit a proposal for consideration at the AGM -- but if not, I would like to submit the following proposals for consideration:
1. For purposes of the Championship Challenge ONLY -- the requirement that those Jaguars normally shown in the Driven Division must be driven to and from home and the show site be suspended to allow such cars to be trailered or shipped to the show site of the Championship Challenge. This would allow a much greater participation of the older Jaguars normally entered in the Driven Division ÔÇôwithout requiring that they be driven half-way across the US to participate.
2. Participation in the Championship Challenge (regardless of the Region in which held) will count toward fulfilling the ÔÇ£two ConcoursÔÇØ requirement for Regional Award (ie. participation in at least two Regional JCNA Concours events in the EntrantÔÇÖs OWN Region), (This may already be in place.)
If the deadline for submitting proposals for consideration at the AGM has not passed, please let me know. And where to submit. The above will be discussed at our next meeting of the Carolina Jaguar Club ÔÇô Feb. 24th

Pascal,
The change that was enacted requires that any change to the By-laws must be submitted not less than 8 weeks before the AGM. I does NOT apply to changes to competition committee rules or any other proposals that any clubs or individuals may want to submit to the AGM for consideration.
Hope that clarifies.

yeah, we can also all sit by the camp fire and sing Kumbaya... all will be good and rosy.
in the meantime, how about clarifying the 60 days requirement ? does it apply to by law changes only or to any proposal ?
i'd love to look at the bylaws but the only version i see is dated 2005...

Then perhaps someone should get right on that item and get it incorporated if that was the intention. I sent an e mail request to Steve several weeks ago and copied all the slalom committee on my proposal to allow for changes to be made to classes and rules if they were deemed to have been made in error.

First of all there is also another issue that members are not aware of, all proposals regarding slalom, rally, and concours are to be first validated or otherwise by the appropriate COMMITTEE. Therefore COMMITTEE CHAIRS should be asking for proposals to the members of the committees and also general membership.
Awareness of these facts should actually have been in the Jag Journal with each disciplines chair asking for any and all proposals to be presented to themselves and the committee for approval. This is the reason for having the various discipline committees, however this has not been widely publicized, and even some of the members who were present when initially the Committees were given the go ahead have actually forgotten what was said. However I have not............
Just in case,
"I hereby propose that the slalom committee has the power to modify classes or reassign cars as necessary to the appropriate class".
Several AGM's ago it was pointed out by Dick Howe JCNA Secretary and Director for Life, that the various committees were comprised of "experts in that discipline and should be the first to consider any proposals, and then and only then they would be presented at the AGM if they were deemed acceptable by the committee " Any and all proposals for slalom rule changes were dropped / retracted from the AGM that year.
Dedication and knowledge are foremost when heading up any of the Committee Chair positions.
This year we have C Type and D Type Jaguars competing in the same class as STOCK XKs 120, 140, 150, ( according to the slalom rules) . The C Type and D Type are race cars and should be automatically placed in Modified Lightweight regardless of whether they are fitted with racing tyres.
Rules are not always correctly laid down, and it has happened in the past that errors have been approved @ AGM's by delegates. This approval would give the rules committee a chance to correct for such mistakes , rather than having to wait for the following AGM.
This is perhaps a rather simple proposal, however I feel simply putting things simplifies the answer.

I think the lack of proposals may be due to the fact there has not yet been a notice of format and deadline requirements. As I recall, the Seattle AGM adopted a by-law change that required items to be submitted at least 60 days in advance in order to be considered at an AGM. I received a notice of this last year when I was president of our club. So far, I'm not aware of a similar communication, and I'm not sure that anyone has been told that AGM proposals are supposed to posted here. Are they? I've seen posts on other threads with the words "I propose...". so there may be a process or communication problem behind the lack of proposals on this thread. If so, it should be addressed quickly the JCNA Secretary, as the 60 day deadline is rapidly approaching.

I have no strong opinion one way or the other about trailering in the "Driven Class" as I would never do that with our '90 XJ-S but then again maybe I wouldn't drive an old timer in downtown traffic to a local show or a 1000 miles for an out of town show.
BUT puh-lease change the "D" Classes' name as I cannot cope with the
in-your-face irony of a bevy of trailered drivers.
