I have a 1968 series 1 1/2 coupe. The doors fit great and align properly, but when I install the weatherstripping, the doors are very hard to close and open. The chrome window frame top "T" rubber for door window chrome, and the rubber that fits into the channel on the door frame between the vent window and the door chrome frame seem to be the problem. Without these installed door closes easily.

Any ideas?

I agree. I've bought door rubber that was true "rubber" that had little give and a lot of bounce back....and I've bought weatherstrip that was closer to rubber foam and conformed nicer. Sorry I don't know from where.

I had the same problem. Different dealers sell different rubber. You want the softest you can find. The rubber from Terry's Jaguar Parts was recommended to me and works reasonably well. Another problem can be the groove you are putting the rubber into. The groove on the door posts is welded on and can vary in width. Mine was 3/8" on one side and 1/4" on the other. I had to trim the rubber so it would fit into the narrow groove. In the end it took about a month for the rubber to relax so the doors closed well. Good luck -Curt 1967 E-type S1 FHC
