A chap who does not own a Jaguar asked me what would be the best Jaguar in snow and ice?

He believed that an AWD X-Type would be the best and I really didn't have an opinion for him as I do not winter prep any Jaguars new or old (the running cars go to winter storage and th others just wait around for their turn at an overhaul).

Yes, I did indirectly praise the 4.2 XJR for its performance. Last year I went from Edmonton to Jasper to Castelgar (kicking orse and crow's something mountain passes) then onto Banfff and ending in Calgary in a car (June 2007) and I must say mountian driving (especially in snow!) is for the very brave.

Hats off,

Oh gosh, don't go with the crap about X-types. You don't need AWD to drive in snow. Besides, the X-type is not a proper car, it may be a nice car for your wife to drive, but it hasn't a place in your heart.

My 2001 Jaguar XJR was just perfect in snow even with a set of all season tires. Drove through a foot of snow with ease. A perfect all weather car, it even was a great car to drive up the ski hills.
