There always has been discussion on the XKE series 1 & 2 factory hardtops. Three questions that are not covered in concours manuals, books, factory catalogues, etc.
1. Was the hardtop always body color or black?
2. If black was it gloss or matte finish?
3. What differences in Series 1 and 2 cars concerning clamps, hoodliners, etc.?

Stephan they are not addressed as they are not allowed in Conc.. Very early cars can not use them and they were an option--normally when purchased they were black but there were documented cars with matching tops! The tops were changed very little at all and very few were sold--so they are rare and expensive esp-if all the chrome is there!
