I was running the car about to do a transmission fluid change when it just cut out. There is plenty of gas in the tank. I have notice the suction sound has gone when I open the tank. I am trying to find the inertia switch on the vehicle but am not having any luck. Does anyone know where this switch is on the vehicle or have any suggestions as to why the car wont start. It has been running great for the last month. We purchased last year and have only had it on the road for a month.

I had a problem with the inertia switch in my '95 4.0

I had taken the under dash panel out to inspect the fuses and must have jostled it. The car would then crank but not fire and the Gearbox Fail lamp lit. Unhelpfully this situation wasn't covered in the manuals. By backtracking what I had done I encountered the inertia switch and reset it and resolved the issue completely.

I have not really heard of people having a problem with the inertia switch, I think you should put it back the way it was probably . Make sure there are no loose / broken wires etc in the coil / distributor area. .Have you taken the distributor cap off and checked the brush in the inside top area......Art

I have gone a little further and seperated the wires on the intertia switch to make sure the connection was there (it was) and I hooked them back together again. Now I have a "check engine" light as well as a clicking noise under the hood. I am trying to figure out if this is the fuel pump? Can anyone let me know if this has happened to them? The car still won't start but the engine does turn over.

Thank you. I found the swtich and tried to re-set. The car still won't start. I am thinking it might be something in the fuel system. I can hear the pump and the tank is full. Has anyone come across this before?
