Thought I would ask here near the "what do we need to do questions" was there a Western States meet? I did find there was a Slalom but were there other events. It is almost a week later and I can not find any other information on this highly touted and advertised event. Was there a BOD meeting? May we know what happened? Just questions that might help folks feel connected!

Hi Ginger!
Thanks for posting your AGM photos here. You know how much we enjoyed them and we are happy to see them in the Journal and on the web site.
Since the AGM, we have been busy planning our own Concours and attending three others in two states, so we haven't had much time since we sent Mike our AGM article and photos for the Journal.
Hope to see you at the 2009 AGM, if not before!
Candy

Pascal,
I see you created a new "Annual Meets" Gallery. Can you move my 14 photos from the AGM over?

I do it that way, but it's still one at a time.
Anyway, I loaded 14 in the Misc. Gallery, so go look... You'll notice that I overused the word "great" in the descriptions because I'm having an uncreative brain day.
It really was a fine time at the AGM, and I apologize for not uploading photos yet. Maybe I'll load more later. I have over 100, as usual! Unfortunately, the banquet room lighting posed a difficulty, so some of those shots are blurry.

Okay!!!! I'll post some of them in the "Misc pictures" gallery....since the AGM doesn't really fit in the galleries already established.
Having to upload them one at a time is a bit unfun, though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see the great photos from Colorado. I would have loved to make it, and wanted to but just couldn't swing it with my work schedule.
Pascal, I have loads of great photos from the AGM. Sorry I didn't send them to you as webdude. While there, I was busy adoring Norman, but dutifully took the time to snap a lot of photos for JCNA, and even shared all of them with Mike Cook (see current Jaguar Journal), and Steve Kennedy, I think. Candy and Bryan Williams have lots of photos, too.
You want them on CD, or just uploaded into a gallery?
Funny, but Art borrowed cars here in Florida, too!
Heh.
I'm enjoying it, but my current slalom class lead is sure to fall soon enough.
Good luck,

Dick,
whatever you do I know you give it your all when it counts, you just need to learn to smile for the camera when someone says Cheese.. I usually have the same problem. This particular day I guess I had reason to smile, I survived car sickness while being your co driver / navigator, next time please let me drive on the rally......... perhaps this is a better one of the award winning car or one of them, and the owner whose car placed 1st and Dick also won an award too........

It must have been a really long day. I must try to become more photogenic ;-) BTW: that is two Challenge Championships that Art has come without a car and borrowed mine for the slalom. To top it off, he beat me both times with my car. I had enough fun though that I would loan him a car again. Nice to see that there is even more in the car than I can coax out of it.

Gee Art, perhaps if that very attractive young lady was sitting between the CW guys they would be smiling like you are!

Dearm All,
the previous Western States I attended was in fact the previous one in Bend Oregon. Dick and I must have similar luck, I drove the new Super V8 that was on loan to the JCNA President, next day I found out I had in fact set the quickest recorded Time of the Day .
Photography on site was done by an individual who was running his own photo business, it ended up if you wanted a photo of a certain car , etc, you had to pay to get a print or even download the item on your PC.
The best coverage of these fine events has been when people such as Ginger Corda and or Pascal Gadamer has taken the time to shoot away at all in site and then post what they have later......... Great work by several other JCNA members I am sure, however these individuals came to mind instantly..............
As Dick mentions you do not need a car to enjoy these major events, the people you cann meet there is the greatest, the cars are pretty good also, however cars cannot talk as their Masters can, be a master and try and get to the next CC next year......... and be prepared to haul a slalom award home with you , yes even without a car I took home a rally award and a slalom award..........many thanks to my friends @ Coventry West..................
Sincerely, Art Dickenson...............Pacific Jaguar.....

I should also mention that an event this large takes a lot of planning and hard work from numerous people. They must start long in advance reserving venues, catering, hotel rooms, etc with the hope that people will show up and not knowing how many will show until near the last minute. The fact that everything went so well shows that the people involved did their homework. The Rocky Mountain club was the sponsoring club and my thanks goes to them for a wonderful event with no headaches.

The Western States event was a real first class event. Everything went off without a hitch. I helped with the slalom and the scores were posted the same afternoon. Cannot speak for the other scores being posted but there is much more to these events than scores. On Tuesday evening, we had an opening coctail reception. Tuesday morning was the slalom. A luncheon was catered by the host Hilton Hotel at the site. Jaguar brought in two of the new XF sedans for us to test drive. They were gracious enough to let me use one to drive the slalom and I ended up with the fastest time of the day. Rather impressive car. After the slalom, there was a boat ride down the Colorado river ending up at a real western Rodeo after a BBQ dinner.
Wednesday started off with a rally. It was about 150 miles through some spectacular scenery. We ended up third as we could not help but stop and take some pictures. After the rally we were off to tour the Gateway Canyon museum started by the founder of the Discovery Channel. It is his personal car collection and a custom built museum to display it. Dinner on the grounds after the tour.
Thursday was a day to clean your car up. There was lawn tennis in the afternoon. Dinner was followed by a Casino NIght where you got to use the chips you had been collecting for the events. A lot of door prizes. I think everyone got to take home something.
Friday was the Concours right downtown in the park. The town was very accomodating and a lot of people turned out to see the cars. Saturday was the Rocky Mountain concours. Of course, there was a lavish banquet both nights.
These events are much more than the scores. It is a chance to do something with your Jaguar with other people and their Jaguars. Also a chance to see and meet people from other parts of the country. I can speak from personal experience that it even enjoyable if you don't bring your car.

Good question George! I do see that the results of Illinois Concours, which was two days earlier, have been posted for at least the last several days. Perhaps the recent driven class rule change resulted in so many cars that whoever has the honor of posting the results is running a little behind.

The Western States was indeed a great event.
I have posted all my photos at http://kan.com/images/CO/
