Is the fair market value of an XJ-220 still around $200K? The price thereof seems stable (and dare I say it) a bargain at that price.

It is my understanding that you can't get any parts for a XJ-220.

Certainly, a neat car to own, look at, and take to car shows, but I can think of better cars I'd rather throw 140 grand at (and actually drive)....perhaps Aston Martin.

A man can be judged by the company he keeps and I am fortunate in that regard having many good friends and room for many more ... Beer, Wine, Tea or a single malt?

Socialized medicine .... eeeewww ... tough call, lots of pros and cons ... Policitcal dynamite in Canada ... an issue that could topple a govt ..... Canadians dislike and complain incessantly about aspects of their socialized medicine system but definately FEAR and LOATHE any alternative or any reduction in medical services. It is now ingrained in the culture and social contract of the country (having started in 1948 and spread coast to coast by 1961). Doctors went on strike in a Province (akin to a state) in 1962 in protest.

"Crappy Coupes" are easier to find than "Wrecky Roadsters" but I would want a roadster too if I were in Clfa.

It's not all fun stuff though .... see pic. & note the oil trail ...

Hi Dan
Me again. You sound like a guy I could hang out with. How's life in Canada? We may be headed for socialized medicine like you guys have. Does it work? I am really looking hard to find an XK roadster "project car" similar or worse condition as the Ratster. Can you keep your eye out and let me know if you hear of one (cheaper the better). Again, my email is: bsheridanatrestaurantplus.com (www.restaurantplus.com). Thanks,

Our Mk IX is not as ratty but it is a non-runner ... for now ... our XJ-S and XKE are in better condition (Concours) ...

An 150 OTS is much more comfortable for taller people than XKE OTS. The Ratster drives with no fear of scratching paint, curbing, etc. and people are much less intimidated by a rough car and so more likely to talk with you about the car ... Other JCNA members who came along on the Sunday drive with their pristine concours cars got a real kick out of the "Ratster" too.

There are several XJ220's here in the UK... prices seem to be stabilising at 90k gbp. So if you can get one in North America for less than $200k - a bargain!
But I think the UK cars are in better condition as there is probably better factory support from Jaguar and TWR. There were several LHD and RHD examples at Oakfields, and I think there are a few coming up for auction in the near future.

ps: I also like your XK. In unrestored condition it looks great - I always believed a sports car should have these battle scars in order to look purposeful.

1. Rat Car ("RC") way too much fun to pass on for foreseeable future... a true driver (look at the damn thing!) but I appreciate the compliment.

2. The weird thing is that RC received more public interest on our Sunday drive (my biased opinion) than a pristine XKE & XJS(s) or year-old Elise on the same road trip. I also omit pics of RC AFTER her oil sensor blew and she dumped all her oil under and resultant towing) .

3. Restoring a Mk X? .... Good on you ... an under-rated car for sure.

4. AND an $135k for an XJ-220 ... Woit de heck? ... This suggests that the low-end of the XJ220 market overlaps with the high-end of the XK/XKE market or the MSRP of the new XKR (in Canada @ ca. $120k) ... Can an '09 XKR really be soooo close to an XJ220?

5. Where can I get a "Team-McFoo" sticker? and what does the motto translate as .... My guess is "Under Fire Formed ... Distilled [?]"

Hi again Dan,
I should have spell checked myself. I knew Rhetorical had an "h". Are you interested in selling or a trade for your rat car? My email is: bsheridanatrestaurantplus.com

Rhetorical? Yes, and theorectical too (just asking not shopping per se)
... $137k is beyond a bargain ... it is a bargooon! Is the market softening on these cars?
PS here's shot from past Sunday in the "rat car"
