Page 25 of Part 6 of the XK120-MKVII manual states that a vacuum brake servo kit was available for the XK140. Has anybody every seen one? Does anyone know where one might be availabl.e? Any answers would be greatly appreciated

David/George.
I have a XK140 FHC RHD that was originally owned by William Heynes, and later sold to Duncan Hamilton. It has the booster mounted in the right hand side near the master brake , being a right hand drive. Hope this helps. I am in the final stages of a restoration at this time and will probably sell it when I am done.

Wow! Thanks George. The brakes on my FHC can stop it - eventually. I'd like to keep it original as possible and was hoping the servo kit was something off a MK VII or something that would be available. Thanks anyway. David

David the entry in the service manual is in fact a re issue of service bulletin no. 235 of January 1958. The bulletin offers little more except the conversion Kit number of 7076. Checking J 12 (master parts list ) of January 1959 the kit number 7076 is also listed with a supplier number of KL 72536. I think that is a Lockheed Girling number but not sure without further searching. If it helps (know it won't) it was a costly kit at 14 pounds 5 pence. One ray of hope for you is that the bulletin states that there were printed instructions with each kit for the fixed head coupe and the differences in a DHC and OTS are stated. Direct answer is I have seen one kit installed and while I do not remember all details it was mounted inside the fender (wing) above the master cylinder and the master simply fed the servo and the servo fed the divider block for the wheels. I do not remember exactly where the vac. was obtained on the inlet manifold but I do remember there was no storage tank. Possibly someone out there has a set of the instructions and list of parts--good luck. Geo.
