Right now, the only thing keeping the car in one piece and not splitting in half are the seat rails and the roof.
Literally, there are no floors from the toe boards to all the way under the rear seats. The center tunnel is rotted as are both the inner and outer sills. The front and rear valances are gone, as are the lower rear wings and the right front wing. One of the rear radius arm mounts is also rotted. True.. I can order every rotted part and weld them in.. but, for very little money I can have the last of the Series cars and about 500 hours less work. I'm building the 87. I'm not looking for a concourse show winner, just a nice classic English driver that I can take to shows and relaxing drives and a project that needs some work but not something that is going to take my skills to their limits.
I've already started on the forums.
Thanx!

Very nice!
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I don't have the jing to reach your reserve.. plus, I'm in CT and the car is in CA... the cost to get it back here would be more than I have to spend right now.. Even if I flew out and drove it back... LOL
The 87 I have here is a mild project. something to keep me busy. Something I can say I built, to a point. At some point, I'm hoping to get mine to that same place though.

Thanx!

David,

Are you looking for a nice 1987 XJ6 Series III? I just listed mine on eBay. Black, like new! New paint, new upholstery, new wood, $18,000 in receipts on recent re-conditioning. eBay item # 300294227049. See small picture here. My email is Bob5837atLa.twcbc.com.

OK, so I'm now stripping down the 77 Series II, XJ6L getting the garage ready for the 87. (the 87, BTW is in GREAT shape. Hardly any rust, MINT interior. Just no motor. Easy fix as far as I'm concerned.)
What parts are often needed on these Series II cars? What should I pull and attempt to sell? What parts are a direct swap from the 77 to the 87?
I pulled the dash already. All original guages, wood is good, clear coat is not.
Boot lid is in great shape, so I pulled that.
I'm using the bonnet from the 77 on the 87, as the 87 is dented and the one from the 77 is not.
I pulled the boot lid hinges as I have heard they tend to rot and these are in nearly new shape.
The doors are in great shape, minor rust along bottom edge but no through rot.
Brightwork is in pretty good shape. No major pitting. A little Coke and tinfoil and then some aluminum or chrome polish and they'd be great.
I pulled all the marker lights as they are in great shape aside from one tail light.
Gas tanks are in good shape.
Bumper mains have pitting but not unrepairable. Bumper wings are shot.

Suggestions? Needs?

Let me know, I have pretty much a complete car except for lack of any real metal from the bumper line down.
