I am a paid-up Member of the JCNA.
I have asked some questions before on this issue, but the more I go through the "JCNA Mark 2 Judging Guide", compare it to my 1964 MKII RHD 2.4L (118011), and THEN compare THAT to my Offical Mark 2 Jaguar 2.4L Parts Manual, the more confused I become.
Here are some instances:

(From the "Mark 2 Judging Guide)
Radiator shroud.

"All models had a natural light gray color (unpainted) molded fiber glass shroud behind the radiator.".

NOT on a 2.4!

An angled metal plate went across the top ONLY!
From the Jaguar MKII 2.4L parts manual:

"Shield for Water Pump Fan: C.14732"

The brake M/Cyl reservoir mount is a C.17597 for a LHD car, and a C.17598 for a RHD car.

"Radiator Fan- a "Jockey Pulley" belt tensioning device from" engine numbers listed.
But, it gives a date of 12OCT1961.

Not on a 2.4!
At least, not found in the parts manual, nor located onmy vhicle, and the PROPER dual-groove belt fits and adjusts just fine.

"Exhaust"- twin silencers leading to twin tailpipes with chrome-plated tips.

From the 2.4L parts book:
C.14760 Exhaust Silencer, No. per Unit.....1
NO chrome tips shown in manual.

Air cleaner, well, no sheet metal to be hammer-tone painted.

Looks like the "Made in England" tag is for export units.
So, all the LHD cars are "special"?

On the boot lid.
"Markings".

From the 2.4 parts manual, the ONLY tags are BD.17735, which says "MK2"
There is NO "Jaguar" tag listed, nor is there a "2.4L" tag listed.

If someone would like to communicate with me on this, I would be more than happy to provide copies of said information, if for no other purpose than to have a "last chapter" added to the Guide covering these versions for all judges to use throughout the US.

That way, we will have consistency of standards.

If it is not important, that's okay, too.
And, maybe my 1964 dated parts manual has been superceded.
I know of no place else to turn than this august body.
Possibly, like the bronze inner steering column retainer, some parts are just not shown in my manual.

I figured, if I entered my car today, I'd probably get the "booby prize", if there is such a thing, but, by gum, I want what I DO to the car to be correct, as correct as I know how to do it.

I, too, have no intention of doing Championship Concours with mine.
I drive mine.
I obtained it last May, have over 3K on it since.

But, when I put things back to the way they are supposed to be, I only want to have to do that once!

I think we made headway on this, just waiting for an "Addendum" to the "guide".

Thanks, Mark!
Discussing this with others, I wonder if any "new" members have changed the originality of their cars to meet the specifications outlined in the "Guide"?

Maybe, just maybe, I am a little sensitive on the issue.
I have been here before, with another Marque, where we had new folks changing the color of the interior paint on the metal bits based upon "the book" in that group.

And, it was wrong.

The last thing that I personally want to do is go drilling holes, repainting parts, and moving components without doing "due diligence" to make sure my car isn't SUPPOSED to be the way it is now!

And, so far, everything stays as -is.

Dave:

Try, georgejones123atearthlink.net This is the email address I have for George from when I provided him with clarification information on the colour of the turn signal lenses for cars not destined for the US market. If you do send information to George, I'd suggest that you also copy Dick Cavicke (contact details on the San Diego club web pages) so that the JCNA judging team knows about any upcoming changes.

I tried.
I asked one to get me a contact, so far, nothing.
He is not listed in my Regional Roster.
He is not listed by contact e-mail or phone number in the Guide mentioned herein.

I have no "great knowledge", and, if you follow the postings, it is a journey of discovery.
I joined the JCNA, been to one function so far, but figured, hey, since I have a 2.4L MKII, I would research what I could to find out what information was out there.

One local judge, a fella named Bob McAnelly, has been EXTREMELY helpful in this journey, especially as he has a LHD 2.4L MKII, that was a Regional Winner in Class 18 a few years ago, but that was before the "Mark 2 Judging Guide" was published.

I was initially at a loss, as my vehicle is so OBVIOUSLY different than the units described in great detail in the "Mark 2 Judging Guide".
I have, as I said earlier, done some research.
Not finished, not interested in starting a war, hawever:

If the "Guide" says "all", maybe, just maybe, an asterisk with a paragraph at the bottom of the page saying, "except:"?

4 months ago, I didn't even know I'd finally have a Jaguar.
Three months I don't think I even consciously knew there was such a thing as a 2.4L.
You could've knocked me flat if you'd told me my Jag would be a RHD!

So, not having ANY intention of being a Championship Contender, but wanting to place back to original almost 45 years of questionable maintenance and modifications (like Air Conditioning), I went looking for a group that would have the necessary knowledge to guide me in my path.

That's when I downloaded the "Mark 2 Judging Guide", and, well, here we are.

I have NO idea what I will find tomorrow.
I would have liked to have communicated directly, but that did not happen, since I have no means to do so.

Next best thing I could find was this "Concours and Originality" forum on the JCNA Website.

Dave, Instead of coming on this site and showing your vast knowledge of Mk2 Jags why don't you get in touch with George Jones with your comments!! Perhaps you do not mean it this way but If I was George I'd find your messages to be insulting and demeaning!
