Can a XK120 or XK140 or XK150 engine & chassis be mated to a Devin fibre-glass body without major cutting or lengthening of the chassis rails?

Was this ever done in the late 50s?

Up here, there seems many have reached the saturation point for absorbing mo' Jags especially since most of the year the climate is not conducive to driving vintage cars.
I am glad you made a sale in the end which I trust was to your liking.

Unfortunately I got no response fro JCNA members. I was sort of supresed that no one in the USA or Canada put in a bid. By my calculations the "parts" if parted out are worth over $20,000

ÔÇó 1950 chassis (#670640) with clean California title & registration - $7,500
ÔÇó 1952 engine (#W4757-8) with less than 20,000 original miles - $5,000
ÔÇó 1952 gearbox with less than 20,000 original miles - $1,250
ÔÇó Complete front-end (suspension, shocks, brakes, steering column - $2,500
ÔÇó Complete rear-end (springs, rear axle, emergency brakes) - $2,500
ÔÇó Clutch & brake mount & pedals - $400
ÔÇó Driveshaft - $150
ÔÇó Radiator - $400
ÔÇó Emergency brake handle - $100
ÔÇó Fuel tank and new fuel level sending unit - $500
ÔÇó Four (4) 16 inch early steel wheels, pristine condition (including tires) - $800
ÔÇó Fiberglass black upholstered racing seats (pair) - $500
ÔÇó Dual exhaust system - $400
ÔÇó Racer body parts (lights, grill. Hood, windshield, wiper motors, model T cowel, fenders, dash, gauges, etc.) - $1,500

I may re-list the car again with newer pictures if my deal fall's through with my overseas buyer.

I meant I hate "washing" wheels .... What a subconcious slip!

Hope your buyer hangs around JCNA a bit. Your (former) car seemed to have a keen and fair asking price and it was gracious of you to offer it to JCNA members first.

Here is a picture of another unfortunate Jaguar that had to spend it's adult years outside of its original body. I just sold it on eBay.

In my opinion, the attached file pic is a truer example of wrong on
so many levels.
In my opinion, the Devin shape still okay by me
(reminds me of a SP-25O Dart).

I read that Bill Devin's nickname in the trade was "Enzio Farrari from Oaki Flats". I agree with Daniel Thompson that it is a rather "odd" looking car, more worthy of a Toyota 4-banger engine. Putting a Jaguar engine in that car is "wrong" on so many levels. Just my take.

Is it objectionable from a technical point of view or just for its appearance? ... Here is a file photo of a Concours condition Devin which I think is a rather fetching car (shell) worhty of XK innards .... D L

The why: There was a possible convergence of a 140 frame/engine (no body) and a Devin Body (no engine) combined with a quirky taste for something different....So it was done in the 50s after all then...
