ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING BOTH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAVE NO BRAKES. THE VCM READS "FAIL" IN WHICH THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS IT'S LOW BRAKE PRESSURE. HAS ANYONE RUN ACROSS THIS SAME ISSUE? IF SO WHAT WAS THE FIX. WHERE SHOULD I START LOOKING? COULD THIS BE A SIMPLE RELAY THAT SOMETHING IS NOT GETTING THE POWER IT NEEDS?

THANK YOU

Joseph- No, I have not had any problems with the transmission (thank God), but I did have to replace the rear end because of a differential failure. The differential is so difficult to replace that you might as well put in a whole new rear end, which is what I did. Everybody cries about the cost of Jaguar parts, but many times the labor involved is so extensive that you might as well bite the bullet and replace most of the parts you are taking off, especially if they are prone to wear and tear, like the drive and suspension systems. -Gary

Thank all who replied in assisting. I am a retired technician so the 1st fix resetting the ecu was my first try understanding the electrial glitches a Jag can have. Lost of brake pressure is the fault and I too believe that the pump is not operating in turn would cause lost of the brakes system both abs and regular braking.

Gary have you by chance come across the issue with the trans light coming on and going into limp mode. I am leaning on it being the output sensor located on the left rear of the trans My understanding is that it is the same part number as the input sensor located forward of the output sensor. Let me know if you have come across this please appreciate the help

Joe- Listen to Andy. I also have a 1994 XJ12 and had the same issue with the master brake pump. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the only way to fix the problem is to replace the pump, which is quite expensive. Good luck! -Gary

Joseph: You need to try resetting the ECM. To do this, FIRST and FOREMOST find and write down the security code from the radio (assuming you still have the factory Jaguar radio) so that you can reset it after you power back up. (IF you don't do this, nothing will work afterward.) Once you know the code and how to reset it, remove the negative battery post connector for one minute. This will reset all of the ECM's and Monitors. All too often a glitch in a connector or logic circuit will cause this problem so be patient. These dang ECM's are sometimes just too sensitive.
