I rebuilt all 4 carbs and when I put the back drivers side carb back on, I could not fit the front carb on separately because the pipe from the exhaust that tee's and goes into the top of the carbs. Anyone that has struggled to put the nuts and washers on and tighten the carbs knows it is quite a struggle, and lots of frustration. If I remove the screws on the top of the pipe where it goes into the carb, it just gives you access to the inside of the pipe. If I can remove these pipes from the carb, I can reinstall the pipe after bolting the carb on the front. I can always remove the back carb and install together, but I would rather get stuck in the eye with a sharp stick. Any help on how to remove the pipes going into the top of the carbs would be appreciated. It seems like a pressed fit. Thanks, Struggling Jerry Nutt

series 3 carburetors drivers side, pipe from exhaust to the top of carbs re
I don't know anything about your particular problems on a Series 3, but the 3 SU's in a Series 1 E-Type are a challenge as well. It takes a number of tools to get the job done.
Buy yourself some long forceps or large tweezers at the hardware store. These are perfect fo sliding on and off the split washers from the studs. Also get a cheap 7/16ths inch box wrench; heat the end red, and bend it to where it fits in the space just right. Also, a crows foot socket is sometimes helpful for that extra quarter turn. Many times you have to access these nuts from below.
Good luck....I fel your pain!

Carbs on the V12 are best installed and removed as a pair with all links and EGR pipes as they are.
