I believe that new XE should be:

1. track-ready (super-light);

2. high-performance V6 or V8 (supercharged);

3. standard shifting should be available;

4. Cheap-say 50K;

5. fuel efficient-say 30mpg (diesel option with Europe in mind);

6. A two seater;

7. Alloy or plastic body-no heavy steel;

8. wheels at the corners - no overangs;

9. No wood and no cheapo-bin parts either;

10. Retro Checker pattern on the wheel;

11. Should have the Lotus Elise as its benchmark ... forget the Porsche
Boxster.

I hope Jaguar gets it right!

I know I'm dreaming, but I've been hoping for the F type to come back to the corporate plan. Light, not loaded. Lotus, not Zuffenhausen. Skip the 8 or even the 6, a 4 cyl should be able to perform. Make it a drop top. And it had better not cost 2 Miatas or Solstices.
