I'm that newbie with a million questions, again!
Tho' I'll doubtless agree with those who are just fine with that seductive engine sound, has anyone ideas about a great radio upgrade that will provide MP3 capability, and, can anyone suggest the best speakers? Don't speakers require an airtight enclosure on the backs for best efficiency?
By the way, my "new" '71 OTS E-Type has (working!) air con., which may influence the space I have available.

Hi Bob
I mounted a nice modern Kenwood, but without MP3 capability.
I mounted very nice 6 and 1/2 in Kenwood speakers on the OUTSIDE of the enclosure. They were KFC X 1700, but that is an old model.
Speakers dont have to be enclosed. Ideally there is no resistance from the rear, but the waves from the rear, which are out of phase with the front, should not creep around the edge of the speaker and cancel the front waves.
For my 67 S! I had to make a new face plate for the enclosure out of door skin plywood and cover it with vinyl.
My system sounds great because I installed QuietRide AcoustiShield to eliminate sound and heat. If you do this, dont glue anything you dont have to. You will have to remove it later for some unforeseen reason. The loudest noise in my car is tire noise.
Good luck
Curt
