I posted about this problem last fall but put the job on hold during the winter. I hope someone can give me some direction. Last summer my 69 OTS overheated in my driveway spraying coolant from the expansion tank mostly. I let it cool off, dried everything off refilled the radiator and the car seemed to run fine. However, after about 30 minutes of driving the car died out and wouldn't start. The battery was completely dead. If I charged it up I could get it running but something is draining the battery. the alternator guage is usually reading a little less than 12 volts and if I take a reading from the "L" terminal on the alternator I get 2 volts with the key in the "ON" position.
any ideas?

Edward 1-the 4TR is repairable but not economical to do so one at a time and that is if 2-you have checked that is the problem but 3-the seminar is a book not a video but I suggested you get a service manual from the Shoppe.

Bob a "little" longer than that!

I was told that the the item marked series 2 e-type seminar was sold out, is that what you are referring to?
I thought that the seminar was a video. I have located the 4TR, is this a repairable item or should it just be replaced

Edward one of the relays pictured is the alt. relay which is a possibility of failure but the voltace regulator is under the heater box and facing out--It should be marked 4TR. From the picture there is some non standard relay equipment and some non standard wiring-so not sure where we are------on to the E type book--I sure wish you would tell me who told you that. I have the publications and shipped over 100 books out this week--I can assure you there is stock and if you go to the shoppe site and click and pay with paypal I WILL SHIP MONDAY. More important I would like to know who told you that! Thanks, George

Edward from the information provided here is my SWAG. Your expansion tank overflow line is not routed to the ground and when you overheated (do your fans work now) the spill took out the regulator. All of this assumes the car is stock so look in the service manual and test the regulator. The alternator must get a signal to start charging and the regulator provides that plus a shorted regulator will drain the system---it is also possible that damage to the wiring harness or the contacts in the area happened. Vheck it out and let us know. If you do not have a service manual you can get the official copy here in the JCNA SHOPPE-You will not find a better price elsewhere.
