William I have a simple formula that has proven to be very accurate---take the value of your car--subtract the cost of converting to a lump--once it is running well (and handling) cut it in half and that is what you have. On a more positive note the XJ engine in your car has proven itself over decades as reliable--why would you want to do this--please know you will not save any $$$$ you will just be dumping $$$$ into a loosing proposition, Hope you do not mind tough love!

I personally would not recommend doing a conversion but that's just me. I have an '86 & an '87 XJ6 and have worked on quite a few of these Series III's over the years. I think you can rebuild your existing engine and transmission for less cost than a conversion.
