I just recently purchased a 1995 jaguar xj6. It has been sitting for about a year and does not run. Fuel is getting past the regulator therefore is getting fuel... I hope.I am not familiar with these cars at all so I hope I can get some info on testing and finding the problems this car is having. I suspect a relay for the ignition coils, but I didn't get the owners manual. Or have a repair manual. I would like to do the work myself but any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, there is a problem with the shift lever, can shift into reverse, neutral and drive, but trying to get it to stay in park is difficult. Thank you for reading.

I changed the fuel filter. There is fuel at the fuel regulator, but can't tell if theres enough pressure. Hear sound coming from the gas tank, but think it is the registering unit. Is there any way to check a relay? Does anybody know or have a wireing diagram for this vehicle? I did go to Jaguar of Solon and they told me to come here because they do not carry any or can't get any parts for "older" Jaguars. They only care about what they are selling now. And how do I check for spark at these coils? Is there a way to pull the plug, have it in the coil try starting the car or will that hurt something? Not too much help around, just my set of hands so if I can do it myself, I would greatly appreciate the info you give me. Thanks again.

Thomas those cars are almost bullet proof--but you have not given us enough information--do you have fire at the coils? Be careful that is a lot of volts so just check the signal. Park sounds like you may have an adjustment problem or the park pawl is sheared. Plaese give us a detailed report of what you have found--manuals are available and the handbooks are still available from Jaguar.
