I have an 88 XJS V12 that recently dropped a valve seat. The local mechanic claims it would be $5-6K to fix it or replace the engine. It also has a laundry list of smaller mostly cosmetic problems that seemed doable before the bad news. A couple of you said you had rebuilt V12s for sale.
1) Where are you located (I am in Phoenix)?
2) How much are you asking?
3) Would you be interested in partial trade/cash for the V12 that needs work (everything else works well (even has good A/C)?
4) If I were to call it quits on this car what are your recommendations for selling it? Ebay? Craigs List? Local Paper? Autotrader? JCNA? Junk Yard?

Seems like it would be a great parts car or even rebuild for someone with the means to do so. It has never been in an accident and the interior is still in decent shape.

Well the V12 was used in the XJ12 and it is basically the same body, so!! That being said, it did not fit smoothly it was "shoe horned in". As for the transmission, the model 65/66 was not strong enough for the 6 engine, it became the achilles heel of the car, so it would definitely not be capable of handling the 12. Even though, the bell housing set up was probably the same. Why are you asking Bob?

Lawrence unless you are interested in keeping the proper serial number why rebuild--write me off line and let me make a suggestion on purcasing a good used V 12 for your car--and no it is not from me!
