I have a Mark IX sitting in my garage, it belonged to my father who has since passed away, but I am unable to determine the year of the vehicle. The vehicle identification plate has the following information on it:
- Chassis #: 792872BW
- Body #: N008614
- Engine #: NC8635-8
- Transmission #: JBC 3167

Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Michael you can get the exact same certificate--quicker service--and support Jaguar NA (the folks that support this club) by clicking on the library here. BTW the JDHT has changed names--it is now the JHT.

Hello to you
My name is Michael i m here in Jacksonville.. if you still havent found the vin number of your jag then may i suggest go you the site Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust... send them all the numbers that you can find on the car and $60. they search through the archives and you will get back a very nice certificate telling you what date the car was made including the vin number.
I wish you luck
Michael

Elly your father's car (sorry you lost him) is the 2872nd car built out of 4021.(LHD) It was probably built in 1959 (introduction was Oct. 1958. If you go to the library on this site you can order an Official certificate from Jaguar and confirm the build date--dispatch date--colors--all numbers etc. The BW at the end of the vin simply means it has an automatic (as did all US cars). Please remember the title of the car may say anything as the rules back then were sort of flexable--it could be listed as a 1960 car but there are a few changes to the car if it is and those are easily confirmed. Best of luck--order the certificate. George
