A valve head broke off in the chamber and destroyed the piston and bashed up the head. Picture is attaced below.

I'm guessing that buying a new head is out of the question, too expensive and maybe impossible to get?

I am looking for a good shop in the mid-atlantic region that knows how to weld up the aluminuim and machine it back to shape.

Does anybody have any sugestions?

Has anyone ever had this done? Sucessfully ?

Bill, Yea, that head looks like bad news. I droped a valve in a Chevy 396 with similar
results. There is one race shop I know can fix your aluminum head. It is Billy Albert
racing engines in the Wythville Va. area. I know of some of my drag race friends have
had aluminum heads repaired there. He does not have a web site, but if you type in
billy albert racing engines (with no http;//) just the name, you will see plenty of
reference to his skills. His telephone number is 276-686-8964. He welded up the
carb hat on my 72 Chevelle (502 c.u. with procharger) 725 h.p. He has a huge
aluminum welder, about 10 x 10 and knows what he is doing.
