I have just poured a new concrete slab on my garage floor. What is the best type of coating to put on the floor so the enevitable oil drips can be easily cleaned up?

I purchased an epoxy (2 stage) paint 5 years ago. I pressure washed let dry for two days and applied it, I am surpised at how well it has held up. There are also marble like finishes (non slip) that can be applied professionally.

David,
I have used the gray garage floor paint supplied by Griots Garage and the stuff from Home Depot. Both say the garage floor should cure for 4 to 6 months. Frustrating I know but you do not want to trap water in there. The Home Depot stuff also says you cannot paint if the morning temperature is below 60 degrees.

I put plastic down for the Colorado winter and painted it in May. Be sure to use one single sheet of thick plastic and tape down the corners. If you use a double sheet, you can slip on it just like ice.

Also, for the Home Depot stuff, I use the mild acid wash they include. It is necessary to give the concrete some Tooth. Then I power wash the floor once, sometimes twice.

I have now done 8 of these floors using the Home Depot stuff. I do not recommend the Sprinkles, just the tan or gray paint. Also keep a wet roller or you will see roller marks when the paint dries. If you want more details, contact me. Oh, the carolinas are too far to go for a service call.
