I recently bought a Pertronix distributor for 1953 XK 120SE. When trying to install it I found it was incompatible with the factory clamp (mine is the double curled over type). I called XKs unlimited where I'd purchased the Pertronix and they advised me that some 120s had the aforementioned clamp. The suggested fix was to cut off the double (upper) surface of the clamp, and then there would be enough play for it to fit. Has anyone had experience with this problem?

Ron.. I have just spent much of two weekends trying to install a Pertronix ignitor in my xk 150 roadster ....I could not get it to start and tried all the tests they suggested...then sent it back. They say it tested good ....but sent me another one and I tried again...no luck....I have a negative ground system and I conx the Ignuitor as suggested ..the red wire to the positive or CB side of the coil....and the black wire to the neg/sw side of the coil....the white ignition wire is attached to the neg /sw side and the old black and white wire which went from the pos/cb side to the distributor as ground is disconx. I didnt have a clamp problem but thought maybe you may have a suggestion. Thanks John
