Cannot start Jag (negative ground)after installing Pertronix....The Red wire of the Ignitor goes to the Pos/cb side of the Lucas coil,....the black wire goes to the neg/aw side of the coil....all the tests indicate that from the battery to the coil everything is ok....the end of the coil wire does not show a apark to ground.....Does the white ignition wire conx to the negative side of the coil? The black and white wire which went from the coil to the distributor frame is not disconx..I the black and white wire ran from the pos side of the coil ground on the distributor....I wondering if the white wire and the black and white wire have been switched....??? Maui John,
Originally the white wire is your HOT lead to the (-) neg. term., activated when you turn on the ign. key, the W/BK goes from the (+) POS of the coil to the distrib. Discard the W/BK lead, (not used anymore). With the Pertronix, the BK connects to (-), the RED & the WHITE (BAT) lead connect to the (+) pos. of the coil. Enclosed is a photo, the green wire is for a Tach. I hooked up temp.

Made a mistake in typing .....the b/w wire IS... disconx from the coil and thebody of the distrubutor. Where does the WHITE WIRE from the ignition conx to the coil....on the pos side or the negative side on a NEGATIVE ground system? Right now the WHiTE wire is conx to the negative/SW side of the coil....that means that the b/w wite that is disconx nomw must have been conx to the cb...or positive side when it was a POINT system....But then why would it have been conx to the body of the distributor when in use with POINTS,,,,,?? John
I didn't mean to confuse you, one of the RED wires is from the battery, the other is the Pertronix lead from the distrib. The engine is not in the car so the odd wiring but it runs great.

P.S here's a shot of the (-) NEG. side.
