I have a couple of E-types that basically had in storage for years and called XK's Unlimited out in California for some SU carb rebuild kits and found out they are now owned by Moss Motors. They used to also have a restoration shop and the sales guy said they were still there but separate; anyone know the name of the Jag Restoration shop that was previously part of XK's Unlimited?

Also, are there any other shops around the country for E-types that you would recommend?

I have a Series I 4.2 liter FHC Serial number 1E31112 built in May of 65 that I want to restore. I bought it back in the early 90's from the guy running a Jag business out of Steubenville, OH. Never wrecked, no rust, complete, and the numbers matched. I started working on it myself but since then have moved 12 times as a corporate warrior and currently live in New Orleans so don't have a shop to do it myself, so either I pay someone to do it or sell it as is.

Needs to be completely taken to bare metal primed and painted, needs new interior as the original was in poor shape when I bought it, chrome needs to be replaced or re-chromed, and engine runs well ust has to be pulled to replace rear main seal and needs detailing, so would probably go for an engine rebuild too while out of the car.

Any rough estimate on how much this would cost? Is this a 50K job or an 80K job?

Thanks,

Scott

XK Motorsports is still in SLO and flourishing, It is now owned/managed by Clive Collins. Clive has a great team and has a good reputation. The California Clubs visited XK Motorsports last weekend and were given a great tour of the facility. The Cal Clubs also visited British Auto Sports in San Luis Obispo who perform restorations. Another restoration shop in California is Images in San Jose.
