Hi folks-In my last post I was inquiring as to rear-end ratios. Quite a lively discussion ensued.

Now that I have the rear end out of the car and cleaned up (moderately) of the 45 years of crud, I've noticed that the casing is stamped. One # is a C70. I'm assuming this is the date code for its manufacture. The car is a 1970 OTS, so that makes perfect sense.

What's odd is the stamping below the C-70. It reads 3299C. Is this supposed to be a portion of the engine number? The engine number is 7R-13922-9..seems funny

Could they have transposed the numbers when stamping the rear-end? Are they supposed to match?
