What are the symptoms of a failing vacuum valve? How about symptoms of a failing servo? I detect a slight but noticable whistle when braking (why I ask about vacuum parts of the braking system). Brakes are strong but sometimes the front brake pads continue to press slightly against the rotors after braking. Just beginning to sort this out and was wondering if others have dealt with these issues and would share guidance.

XKE brake vacuum valve & servo question
Jeff if the valve on the res. tank is bad you may not noticebut you will have no reserve. Sounds more like you have a leak somewhere else if the brakes hold on.
The whistle is probably a sticking reaction valve seal on the front of the brake master cylinder . It may just be a weak spring - take the valve off and check it out. Not sure that this is really a problem but you can buy a seal kit or a complete reaction valve from the usual sources.
