Does anyone know

(1) Where can I get an used XK120 Speedometer?

(2) How can I tell what rear end ratio my car is?

Thanks.

Hi Jim,

I have a 1953 XK120 roadster with a standard rear-end. I need a speedometer that shows 140mpg on the dial, probably for 3:77 rear end ratio.

Contact me offline at: Bob5837atLa.twcbc.com regarding your XK120 speedometer. I will be checking email Friday morning then I'm going out of town

If anyone is interested, I have a tachometer for (I think) a MKI showing 0-5500 rpm and an XK150 speedometer showing 0-6000 rpm. Both have clocks and are in good condition (should be serviced before using). For trade or sale.

Robert you can determine the rear ratio by several methods but unless you think it has been changed or replaced it should be standard--unless the heratige cert. (which you are asking for right?) says it was a special order. As far as the speedo head there are several folks that deal in that type of thing but since you need one that has been rebuilt (so you do not have to take it out and put it back in) try SNG Barratt. BTW the normal ratio of your differental should be 3:77. As far as the methods I prefer removing the rear plate and counting the teeth but you have a 1951 and a 1953 so I am not sure if which car you are asking about. If it is the 51 and has an ENV rear I am afraid you must use the turn the wheel method which is more inaccurate.
