Hello all, I am an Australian interested in an XK120 which has been advertised a number of times on ebay and situated in Wilmington Delaware. I want to do a 6 month tour of the US when I retire. I have had a number of XKs in Australia and still have a 140MC DHC and E S1 4.2 OTS.

The ebay item number is 300391130720. It is a red OTS with DE plates Jag50.

I was wondering if this is a car known to the club, as I would like to speak to someone who knows the car. I would also be greteful for any suggested mechanics to check the car out for me.

Many thanks

Doug Young, Brisbane, Australia.

Thanks everyone for your views.
My interest is not in restoring it. Tidying to an extent, but primarily ensuring it will not let me down. I want something I can drive without halving the value with the first stone chip, and that I can park without it being in my line of sight at all times (but carefully selecting where of course). Like in the old days. I used a 150 FHC, 120DHC and S1 4.2 OTS as daily drivers in Australia for 20 years clocking up over 140k miles in them.

Hi Doug,

I'm confused. Did you purchase the car on eBay? Or are you looking to buy an XK120 that won't let you down, etc? I have an XK120 I might be willing to sell. If interested, contact me "offline" at Bob5837atroadrunner.com

45K and reserve not met.

Hmmm.

It's a decent looking driver.
If you want to fully restore it THEN take it on a cross-country tour, you will be restoring it twice.

Pinion seal leaking, dampness near valve covers, obviously banged against high curbs.

Wonder what his reserve is?

Hello Robert; Unfortunately No, I was referrring to Terry Larsen in Arizona. But, I suggest you call Exotic Car parts in Upland. they have been in business a long time and in proximity to Glendora. I do not have that number here at home but ( it just popped into my head, i'm sure it is 800 231 3588. Regards Bill Brady

Hi William,
Is that "Mike" Larson? In the 1980's I kew a Mike Larson in Glendora, CA who had an unrestored XK120 alloy in his garage and was a great help in getting me parts for a 1951 XK120 and 1954 XK140 I owned.

Do you have an email or any way I can contact him? Thanks.

Hello Doug, last year I sold my two 56 Caddies to a Doctor in Brisbane! The 120 is interesting but clearly needs a lot of work. With your experience you are i'm sure, aware of the cost to strip and rebuild a car in this condition which presumably is what one would have to do. It might be better to buy a restored car or even a basket case. I'm sure someone will head you to a local mechanic but that would only be after you bought it, at that point you might as well send it directly to some of the experts, like Larsen or Pollock. Gday & good luck. ps; The tennis Open is fantastic particularly as I am a great fan of Andy Murray
