I have reinstalled the windows in an XK 120 DHC only to find that one window won't stay up. It cranks up and down OK, but once you release the handle it goes down by itself. Did I fail to install it properly? Is there a simple cure?

George Camp was right, the assist spring was reversed.
The window winders were installed as shown in plate 10-i6 of ÔÇ£XK120 ExploredÔÇØ. That drawing is incorrect. The winder is also shown in ÔÇ£XK140 ExploredÔÇØ where it is shown correctly. Switching the winders on the two doors solved the problem. Thanks!

Possibly, the windows and frames were out of the car when I got them. It is only the passenger side that is faulty. I will compare them today to see if they are different. If I can't figure it out I will take pictures.

David is there any chance you have the assist spring in --in reverse?
David great--why we need a strong club!
