I have a 1995 XJS Convertible and the other day the trunk would not open. It will lock and unlock however the trunk release handle, located above the license plate on the trunk seems to be disengaged. I have taken it to a local Jag dealer and they told me they were not that familiar with the older models and could not help. I contacted Jaguar Canada and after two days of waiting for a reply I was told to remove the back seat to gain access to the trunk, so I removed the back seat to find solid welded panels "access impossible" I then contacted Jaguar USA as it was originally a Texas car however they explained my problem back to Jag Canada, they inturn told me they are working on the situation and will contact me as soon as they have something to report..."that was 5 days ago and still waiting"
I would greatly appreciate any suggestion on how to get the trunk opened without taking crowbar to it. I have my golf clubs in the trunk and even though my "wife is loving every moment" I would like to hear from someone who may of had the same problem

XJS Trunk access.

Don't use a crowbar.

If your jag dealer can't figure out how to get your trunk opened then they are obligated to contact Jag UK to get the solution.

I have for 91 XJS jag owner, drilled a 3" sawhole in the bottom of the trunk floor pan & accessed release with my small hand. It takes some patience but can be done. You have to make a cover plate for the hole & seal. The bottom trunk fabric in this case was replaced.

Good Luck

The trunk story from hell continues, after a couple of weeks waiting for a reply from Jaguar Canada they confirmed yesterday the only way to gain access to the trunk is with a "crowbar". If anyone out there has a more civilized method I would love to here from you, Thanks

Well Im not so positive about the 95 model but I know with my 88 the gas tank is right behind the back seat and if thats the same for the 95 which it very likely might not be I have no clue what Jag Canada was thinking. Other than that cant give you much advice other than any possible chance you could get a lock smith to rig it open? Sorry not much help just figured id give ya my two sense. Good luck. Alec
