My last post for this code. I couldn't find anything in a search here so I'll try throwing it out here. Car sits most of the time, when I pulled out to get inspected it drove great, engine smooth in SA TX heat. However, after restarting got engine light and ff77 code. the engine ran but sluggish. Got it home, disconnect/reconnected battery to clear code and try another day. Same results. As long as I'm running (cold or after warmup) runs great. When I shut down and restart ff77 re appears. I'm lost. Not sure I want to do the battery trick every time I run down the road a bit. Thought are welcomed and appreciated. Rapidly losing the Jag lust!

Thanks but I've got the manual also and all it says is something about no speed signal from the PCMI. Rather vague and I changed the crank flyweel sensor about a year ago so that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe it is the computer (pcmi?) and I'm just in denial.
thanks again anyway
