I'd like to write about this great discovery of a few years ago and appreciate the journalistic work done on it so far but has anyhone heard how Terry Larson found the car--I gather he went to the SW and began to look for it but that's thousands of square miles. I think it was in Orange County, Mission Viejo, maybe because the last name of the pilot was so unusual it was in the phone book?

And for general background, were the lightweight E-types successful in racing or unable to beat the Ferrari 250GTOs?

Why don't you call Terry in Mesa Arizona and see if he will give you the story.
From what I remember
He was contacted by a friend who gave him the lead and thought he should follow it up. Owned by the family, seemed like a son or two of the driver/owner of the car. Found in a barn/garage covered with years of dirt and car parts. Taken to Monterey Auction ( RM ) with the dirt on it from storage with the owners old helmet on top of the car. Price went well past what they thought it would bring.
And for general background--- I would suggest knowing something about the cars before you call him. There are volumes written about the lightweights.
